Welcome to Coloma Community Schools and the Coloma community!

The 2023-24 school year will be my sixth year as Superintendent of Coloma Community Schools but I am entering my 23rd year at Coloma Community Schools. I was hired in 2001 to be a math teacher in the junior high school.  A few years later, I was promoted to Assistant Principal where I stayed until 2010 when I was hired to be the principal of Coloma High School.  I have also coached baseball, softball, and football during my career in Coloma.

I am originally from a small town in Southern Illinois (Ava, IL) and graduated from Trico High School.  I then spent the next 8 years as a member of the United States Army.  For the bulk of my military career, I was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, KY and as a member of the famed Screaming Eagles, was deployed during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

When I was discharged, my wife and I moved to Fremont, MI where I attended and graduated from Muskegon Community College and then Ferris State University.  We moved to the Coloma area in 2001 when I was hired and subsequently raised our family.  Both of our daughters were fortunate enough to have graduated from Coloma High School (2009 & 2011).  During my time here, I also earned my Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.

My wife and I currently reside about 10 miles south of Coloma High School where we enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside and raising Isabella, Oshie, Doc, Polaris, Harley, Stevie, and Gibson, our Australian Shepherds.  When I am not busy helping my wife with the dogs, I can be found playing guitar!

If you ever have any questions about our district or concerns about something that you or your child has experienced, please feel free to email or call.  Thank you for your support and collaborative efforts in making our schools the best they can be for our kids!!
