Washington Elementary Vocal Music

Miss Mansfield

Washington Elementary
Director - Miss Charity Mansfield

Charity Mansfield teaches music at Washington Elementary to students in preschool through first grade.  Miss Mansfield has a Bachelor of Science in Music and Spanish Education from Western Michigan University, where she graduated in 2007.  Last summer she began her Masters in Music Education at Western.

Charity has performed in school and community choirs, theatre, and musical theatre since high school and performs often with the Paw Paw Village Players, where she is on the board of directors.  Most recently she portrayed the Wardrobe in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Center Stage Theatre in Comstock.

Miss Mansfield began teaching in Coloma in the fall of 2007.

Children at Washington Elementary are able to enjoy one to three sessions of music each week, depending on their grade level.  Through the early elementary music program Miss Mansfield hopes to inspire a passion for music in the hearts of the very young so that as they grow they continue to aspire to make music a part of their everyday lives.  The program focuses not only on simply finding the joy in music, which is a crucial part of any music curriculum, but also on simple music concepts that will help the children understand more complex ideas as they get older.
