Kindergarten roundup for any child that will be 5 years old by September 1, 2018 will take place at Coloma Elementary with registration all day on Monday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 27, and an evening informational program for all parents of incoming kindergarten children with elementary principal John Klein on Tuesday, March 27 at 6:00 PM. Both resident children and families interested in schools-of-choice can attend and register their child for the 2018-19 school year. For children that will turn 5 years old between September 1 and December 1, 2018, an enrollment waiver will be available for parents to complete and request that their child be allowed to attend kindergarten next fall.
Enrollment packets will be available on the above dates, and should be completed and returned to the school by Tuesday, March 29. Please bring the following documents to the elementary office when enrolling your child:
-original birth certificate
-documentation of current, up-to-date immunizations
-two proofs of residency (utility bill, rent receipt, etc...)
-proof of vision screening (screenings will be available at Coloma Elementary on May 10, 2018)
-custody papers (if applicable)
All new kindergarten students will go through readiness screenings in May to determine appropriate placement (Junior Kindergarten or Kindergarten). Appointment dates/times will be available during registrations.
Also, registration for our Great Start Readiness Program preschool (Little Learners) will be held on Wednesday, March 21 and Tuesday, March 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Students in this program need to be 4 years old by September 1, 2018. Also, 3 year olds who may qualify for placement in Head Start programs could be eligible. Children must live in Berrien County to be eligible for GSRP. Parents will need to bring a legal birth certificate and proof of income (2017 tax return, 2017 W-2, or two months of current pay stubs) to register.
