Coloma Board of Education Names Superintendent Finalists
The Board of Education held interviews with four candidates this week. The four were chosen from a field of 18 applicants. The Board has narrowed its search for a new superintendent down to two finalists. Interviews and an open house will be held on Tuesday, August 7.
Mr. David Ehlers, Coloma High School Principal, will be interviewed Tuesday, August 7 at 6:00 pm. Mr. Ehlers has served as the High School Principal since 2010. He has also served the Coloma Schools as its Maintenance Director since 2008. Previously, Mr. Ehlers served as an Assistant Principal at Coloma Junior High School for five years and as a junior high math and science teacher for four years.
Mr. Ric Seager, Schoolcraft High School Principal, will be interviewed Tuesday, August 7 at 7:15 pm. Mr. Seager has served in his current capacity since 2015. Prior to Schoolcraft, he was the Director of School Improvement and Assessment with the Kalamazoo Public Schools for five years. He has served as an Assistant Principal for two years; Elementary Principal for two years; and as a Junior/Senior High School Principal for two years with the Bronson School District. Mr. Seager was the Technology Facilitator in Bridgman for two years. His teaching experience includes two years at Belding and ten years at River Valley Public Schools, along with being a Project Manager at River Valley. Mr. Seager taught math and technology.
All interviews will be held in the media center at Coloma Intermediate School, 274 South West Street, Coloma, Michigan. The public is encouraged to attend.
Prior to the interviews an open house will be held at Coloma Intermediate School from 4:00 to 5:30 pm to give the community an opportunity to meet and visit with the candidates.
With the guidance of the Michigan Leadership Institute, the Board of Education is hoping to name Coloma’s next superintendent after the interviews on August 7.
